Winter Dispatch: 014
We're talking winter things we love š
Good morning and happy Valentineās Day! Itās also coincidentally the 14th issue of Slopeside which feels very fitting. Yeah itās a commercialized fake holiday, but I love love!!! Sue me. Irrespective of your romantic relationship status, I also take today to celebrate things I love in life. SKIING. A perfect croissant. Shoppy shops. Sumo citrus while theyāre in season. The list goes on. Iāll also admit⦠I love girly shit. Anything pink, red, embroidered, including hearts, ruffles, toile, count me in. I suppressed this for a long time but am owning it now in my 30s.
So, in the spirit of Valentineās Day, hereās an edit of things I love that make winter even better. š
Getting in a hot tub (or piping hot shower) after a ski day. Bonus points if it was a storm day.
Magic pocket. To get wee little kids excited about skiing, savvy ski instructors + parents use candy in their pocket as a bribe. If you were lucky, you got a handful of M&Ms after a good run. This was a huge part of my childhood but I completely forgot about it until some friends revived it in my brain a few years back. The sentiment still hits, even decades later. IMO the best magic pocket items are as follows: peanut M&Ms, Reeseās, mini Butterfinger, Junior Mints (they get kinda frozen but are still gooey).
OāKeeffeās Working Hands hand cream. I was introduced to this product by my best friendās dad who is a lifelong Alaskan and the most rugged man I know. If your hands are falling off your body in the winter because of dry skin, this is a nonnegotiable and in my bag at all times.
Finding a pocket of the mountain thatās untouched on a powder day and itās eerily quiet ā you can lap it all day without seeing someone else.
Deer Valley double chocolate chip cookie with white chocolate chips. Maybe itās nostalgia, maybe theyāre THAT good. The size of your face and perfect level of crispiness.
Friends with ski houses :) :)
When youāre done skiing for the day and the sun is setting (aka alpenglow). Maybe youāve had a couple bevvys. The air is crisp! You get it.
Skida Snow Tour buff, specifically in the Strawberry Fields print.
Quince cashmere pants + sweater. The softest, coziest set you can imagine and perfect for throwing on after a day on the mountain, WFH, or traveling. This was my first Quince purchase and Iām so impressed by the quality + price point.
Free People Mountain High ½ Zip Fleece. A throw-on jacket like this is a winter necessity and I love FPās recent two-toned fleeces.
A GREAT beanie. One that you can stuff in your coat or ask a generous friend with a backpack to store for lunch/aprĆØs. For years I embraced the helmet hair because I didnāt want to trek around with a beanie but times have changed. Iāve searched high and low for the best packable beanie. Itās The North Face Big Box Beanie.

Taking your boots off after a longggg day.

Chairlift Chatter
Slopesideās favorite ski pole brand is hitting the road. My friends at Yardsale have transformed an old horse trailer into their Trade-In Trailer and are touring the Mountain West. Stops include Aspen, Denver, Crested Butte, Jackson, and Big Sky. Genius! Iāll be at the Denver event on 2/22 if you want to come hang.

Icon behavior from the US Ski Team girls.
Love is in the air at Crested Butte! Theyāve followed Alyeskaās lead and are running a chairlift speed dating event today.
If youāve been living under a rock the past few years, film photography is back. Kodak and Rossignol have teamed up for a fun ski photography promo with sweet prizes.
One brave soul made a day trip from NYC to Colorado to ski. Iām exhausted watching this.
In other news regarding things I am not interested in but highly respect⦠71 hours + 80,000ā of uphilling!!! Insane.
If you're between 21-35, living in Park City, and looking for your 15 minutes of fame⦠youāre in luck.
Zara Ski has a popup in Verbier, Switzerland right now. Aside from this viral video, Iāve yet to see other feedback on this collection. Lmk if you purchased anything!
Sant Ambroeus is opening a new restaurant in Aspen. So naturally, they collabād with Moonboot on a special edition color (including the restaurantās signature dove). Iāve said it before, the Moonboot creative team has been working overtime this season.

Something about strawberry accessories on a cold ski day feels so cozy!
